I have been battling HA for weeks now and have changed my filters 3 times and my TDS is always zero to 1.

Anyone else have some similar problems?

it's not the salt; it's the lack of nutrient removal of the nutrients that you are putting in your tank.

You must remove the same amount of phosphates & nitrates that you put in.

I use RSCP and usually I see the HA come and go with my feeding more and or not keeping up with my WCs.

For what it's worth I didn't like the results I was getting with Red Sea pro. But other people love that sal

I have been using the salt pretty exclusively for 6 months and love it. I have never (knock on wood really hard) had any issues with hair algae or any algae. I used reef crystals before that and no issues either. When I have tested freshly made RSCP salt I never found any nitrates or phosphates.

Agreed - I did not have good results in my tank with it.

I used it. Note that I said "used". Didn't like it but not for HA issues. I didn't get the numbers from the product that they claimed. I got better numbers from Instant Ocean so once I finished my pail, I never bought any more.

I use RSCP and have HA issues. I use RODI that I've tested to have 0 phosphates but it could be the old rock I'm using is leaching PO4 into the system. I do run GFO and still have issues. I purchased a large bucket last September but when it runs out I was planning on trying something different.

The HA is really the only issue I have with the salt. Every time my numbers are spot on as advertised, besides PO4. I did use their small bucket when I was running my 5.5g tank and never had HA issues like I do in my current tank.

Yeah I liked the salt at first.

My wc is 9 gallons a week
Carbon change once a week
Feeding is 4 days a week

Never had this problem with rc which was used before in this tank

If you have a low range phosphate kit or Colormeter, test a batch.

I'm not having any problems. Switched from Salinity back during the last group buy.

I'll be doing a water change this weekend so when I mix it up I'll run a test on it with my Colorimeter.

I've been using RSCP for about 8months now and have not had any HA problems. At least none that I can correlate with the salt.

Oops. I tried.

Tested my tank, still 0.00. While testing my fresh batch of rscp I dropped the sample vial on the tile and it shattered. Second time, so I'm going to have to find another vial or toss the meter.

I am going to start a nano with nothing but rock and rscp

No food, fish or coral. Gonna see what happens

These threads have been around for decades, MY SALT CAUSES ALGAE!!!!

Almost always its something else. Overfeeding, rock leaching nutrients, poor waste removal, etc.....

If there is any question all you have to do is test a new fresh batch of SW. We all know that algae feeds off of NO3 and PO4, its that easy. Afterwards then create a thread with hard evidence instead of useless he said she sad blah blah blah.

Why not just test a batch of new salt water made from coral pro salt for phosphates? That would be a lot easier and faster than setting up a tank.
