Thanks! I'm pretty proud of that clam. I took a risk by buying it so small. I've been told that some that look like they are black actually turn blue when they get above 2".

The same source also told me that they go for about $400-$500 for the size that it is now.
 
yea its risky buying them that small i got a regular maxima last summer that was 1" and it only lasted a few months. but id be willing to try it again and just feed the ever living crap out of it this time. it think thats what i did wrong with my last one i only spot fed it with phyto every 4-5 days.
 
I think placement and lighting can be more of a survival factor than feeding.

I've found that my Maximas have done best up high in strong lighting.

Edit: Many people put them on the sand, that's not natural for them. They need rocks.
 
yea i had done some reading on them and i put it in a shell so it had something to attach its basel threads to and still allow me to move it around. but i did have the shell on the sand bed. it was dead center in the 20 long which is shallow so i figured it would get enough light. next time ill put it dead center up on top of the highest rock i have
