So I hinted in my 1g pico reef (RIP) thread that I was shutting that tank down and starting something new in its place. I had wanted to grow a few rock flower anemones in the 1g, but the temperature swings were just too extreme. So in its place… drumroll please… introducing my new 5 gallon rock flower anemone glow box.

Tank: 5gal Lifegard Full-View angled front tank
Light: Hygger LED bar
Sand: CaribSea Hawaiian Black
Rock: CaribSea Liferock

The rock arrives Saturday, so likely will get the sand, rock, & water in this thing on Sunday and start the cycle. Have a few sponges in my other tanks to help seed with established bacteria.

My plan is to only stock this thing with stuff that glows intensely and will pop against the black sand, and I’m going to try running just blue lights to see what happens. (I’m slightly inspired by this: https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/glow-nights/) I want to have a couple bright rock flower anemones and anemone shrimp, and I’m planning to move some fluorescent LPS, zoas, & shrooms over from my reef to get things going. Also thinking about a pistol shrimp & goby combo and possibly a clown goby or pair of yellow neon gobies.

Here’s an inspo pic I made with ChatGPT. The AI corals look a little ridiculous, but you get the point.
