Hi Folks:

I am slowly making the transitions (as soon as the livestock sells) to a FOWLR tank.
I would love to hear about your equipment/set-up/maintenance schedule.

Here are some questions you may be inclined to answer:

Lighting type and photo-period?
RODI - yes or no?
Filtration: Sump, additional filtration in the form of canister filters, fluidized filter beds, nothing?
Chemical filtration (Carbon, Phosguard, etc)?
Protein skimming?
Water change frequency and percentage?
Dosing? And what do you dose (if you do)?
Anything else you may want to add.

I have all of the above equipment (to support my present reef tank), but would like to know what your experience is.

I have a standard 55 and 4 T5s and all of the other trimmings, but just want to keep 4 or 5 small to medium size fish with LR - that's it.

Thank you for reading and the more and variety of opinions the better!

Have a great Friday and weekend!

I have never owned a FOWLR, but my dad had a 140 gallon fish only. T5s would work fine, my dad used a wet dry sump with a protein skimmer, I think a UV sterilizer would be helpful. You will want a RODI unit and for the water changes probably the same as a reef. Hope this helps. Anyone with more knowledge on FOWLR tanks feel free to correct me.:fish::fish:
