Well 3 weeks ago I bought another Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon meleagris). bad idea. After the first day, I never saw it again. On top of that, my very, very healthy 4 month old bipartipus leopard wrasse hit the sand, too! http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=22525">She's was here.</a> I assume that a parasite infected my baby from the new Leopard! sucks!

Ok, so I figure I'll try maybe one more time. Yesterday I received 2 MM Leopard Wrasse's and both went into sand fine. I dosed prazi-pro which I will continue treatment for 6 days, do a water change, skim, and then retreat. So tonight, one came up at about 7:00 pm, but was kinda disorientated, but then, swam good for an hour or 2. Unfortunately, she wouldn't eat even though I had fed her 2 sizes of live brine, tubifex worms, cyclopeeze, frozen brine, ........ya know? Hopefully, she'll make it out tomorrow. actually, hopefully, BOTH will make it out tomorrow!

Ok, if they don't make it..........plan B.

I need a very friendly fish due to my pipefish that are like 3.5 years in my tank.
I'm thinking of a Melanurus Wrasse (pinstriped) or a Christmas Wrasse (Halichoeres cf. cosmetes) or both.

any opinions are welcome.

Thanks!

I have wanted a melanurus wrasse they have beautiful colors as adults. I like Christmas wrasse as well they have great personalities mine is always flashing at me. Not sure how they would be with pipe fish though. Just make sure the Christmas wrasse comes from Hawaii as the others do not look half as nice. Also the one from Live aquaria are not usually from Hawaii even thought the one in their picture is. I know this from experience. They are not invert safe supposedly but I have never had a problem.

You could also try the meleagris species of leopards they are easier to feed IMO mianly because they are larger.

Hope that helps Joe

By the way, I haven't given up yet! Far from it. The first week or two is the hardest, I know. Just thinking ahead. Oh, and they both are MM Leopards that I have now.

I thought you had a bipartitus.

Look at thew pictures here and compare. Live aquaria once agian sells the wrong ones to people.

Yours is like half way down. I like the geoffroy ones myself next I would get the meleagris

3 week ago I added a MM. 10 days later both my 4 month old bipart & the newMM died. The new one obviously had a parasite that also killed my bipart.

so, I had none.
3 days go, I added 2 new MM Leopards.

that's where we are at.
