The only critters I have other than fish, dogs and cats would be chickens. I promised myself that they wouldn't become pets since they're really "farm" animals but I failed. They definitely became pets as soon as my daughter started naming them.
Lol.we have chicken too. And yeah pets

I went through a koi phase that lasted over a decade. I have a 7000gal pond in my backyard that I *ever so slightly* regret putting in right now...

Just aging. Both me and the pond.
The pond is about 10 years old - things need replacing. A lot of the components need to be replaced and have been discontinued so you have to replumb and retro fit everything together.
Plus the koi hobby is just a bunch of pricks who show off by buying the most expensive koi. I've moved beyond that stage in life. I spent 10+ years trying to find the perfect koi and have since realized that every koi is perfect.
And just thinking about the future - kids are almost off to college. If we moved, I'd have to saw down the pond and fill it in. After I figure out what to do with all the fish - I don't think they'd be able to fend for themselves in a private lake and I doubt anyone has the capacity to absorb 25+ large koi.
