I am just starting to add coral into my 90 gallon, Yesterday I bought just a few frags of Zoa's and two frags of Xenia. As I am doing some research on the Xenia it appears that a lot of reefers consider this coral a pest as they can take over a tank. I wanted to get some opinions on what to do with it. I am thinking about putting it on its own rock and place it on the sand away from the rest of my rock structure so it wont spread.

Here is the rock I placed the Xenia on to segregate it from the rest of the rock work and make sure it wont spread throughout my tank. Also picked up 4 different Zoa frags. Always getting photo bombed by that flame hawk!

I know people have Xenia problems, but I never did. I had like 2 stalks for 8 months

But I couldn't keep the coralline off the glass to see in the tank. Kind of funny, what is desirable to some is always going to be a nuisance to others.

At least we can all agree that green palys suck.

A neat thing to try is to get it to grow on the walls of your tank. I might try that shortly.... especially the back pane.

I have some really nice Xenia if you want it.

Thanks for the offer, I might just stick with the two frags I have in there on the separate rock. I am new to corals and am afraid of them taking over the tank like the guy helping me at the LFS told me they can and will do. Part of me says who cares, it won't be a problem....the other half sees some of these tanks and threads of people trying everything to get rid of them and stop them from spreading. I'm not sure what to do.

If conditions are right, they can and will grow pretty quickly. The pulsing is awesome to watch though. Theres not many corals out there that you can actually watch voluntary movement. Have fun with your tank and let me know if you change your mind.
