Thank to Bmich for driving the 3 hours, I got myself 9 heads. now here teh issue.

1. one of teh head was damaged when it came to me. should i worry about it or is teh coral hardy enough for me to just let it be.

2. How often do i have to feed it ?

If the head is damaged, I don't think there's anything you can do but wait it out, and see if it recovers.

I just got a great deal on some Dendros from Trinh, they are the 2nd colony I've owned. I feed mine every few days with a baster..

Post a pic.

Key thing you need to remember, each head is it's own being. So if you dont feed one, it can die...just because "most" get fed does not mean the whole piece will live. If you want it to grow faster, feed it every day. You can go several days with out feeding it directly, but I personally never went more than 3 days...I typically fed every day. With the one head that's damaged, try to feed it. If it seems to be eating then chances are it will come back. If there are no tentacles for it to eat, then it'll most likely die.

Well, took the first dendro a week to come out. But this one I got from Trinh, he must have fed steroids..... They are huge!!!!!!! And the tentacles are like 1.5 inches long. They came out the first night and have stayed out since pretty much.... Check out the pic of them in the for sale ad (Trinh's picture). Some of the discs are the size of silver dollar coins.

This was possible one of the best deals I've ever gotten, and thanks again Trinh!

Those dendros or duncans? Dendros usually got for $30+ per head. I picked up one head from Warehouse in December. It gets fed mysis every other night...and it's still one head, but it's cool!!!

Mine took about a week to settle in and start opening regularly. Every night for the first week, when I would feed my sun coral, I would take the juice from the melted cube and squirt the dendro with it. There would be minimal response in a few minutes, but it never opened fully during this time.

Dak,

I am 99% sure that this is a DUNCAN, not a DENDRO

Jeff beat me to it!

Sorry, mine are duncans, but at 30 bucks for 8 huge heads, still a great price

I saw those dendros at Warehouse, but was hesitant of them since all of them were closed, in every tank I saw them in. Lighted tank, or unlit tank, every one of them were closed up tighter than a drum, and didn't want to spend that much money on a coral I would have to go on "good faith" that it was worth it.

I did purchase an Orange Dendro from Rit about this time last year. It was very slow to open and was concerned that it would starve to death before it did so. I think it took like two weeks to open, and that was even with basting it to coax it out.....

Good luck, see if you can snap a pic when it opens up

Thread side-swipe.....

Dakota, what is the ultra green piece beside of your Duncan?

Ask Trinh,

As noted above, the pic was provided by Trinh (purplegorilla) of presumably his tank.

heck, I saw Duncan, and replied with Dendro......

Who am I to throw that stone?

I'm faster than Robb! How many people can say that?

I'll see if I can get a pic when it opens tonight. Of course it opens right as the lights go out. I want to train the dendro and sun coral to be open in the light, but working full time and going to school full time mean I can't set aside an hour a day at the same time to make sure they're fed at the same time.

I admit it was a bit scary buying an orange stump that, in theory, opens, but I'm glad I took the risk, it was worth it!

I have a dendro colony that is thriving. The key is to feed as much as possible. I only feed mysis, and I feed them every day. I take a cube of mysis, thaw it in water, use a petco syringe that is used for giving medicine to dogs, and cut the tip of the syringe off with scissors. Then I use it to cover every polyp with mysis. The important thing is to feed all of the polyps, except the tiny ones. For a while, the baby polyps can use energy from the adult polyp that they grow off of. The important thing is to feed a lot, every day.

Hmm, I like the yellow ones. Mine has an orange base with a yellow polyp. Something else to add to the wishlist...

Nahhh,
A just comes before L in the alphabet we posted at the same time... (I know I am fibbing) LOL
