I got a yellow tang yesterday and he was getting beat up by my powder blue tang (what was I thinking?). He hovered in a corner all night and when I turned the light on today one eye is HUGE and the other is normal. He seemed to get a little ich from all the stress. I moved him to the fuge for now.

What is the best treatment for his eye? I cant be sure if it was from physical damage done to him from the PB or if it is an infection. Should I just let him be in the 9 gal fuge or should I move him to my QT for treatment?

Ive read on WWM that no treatment is needed other than maybe some epsom salts to reduce the swelling. Im starting to think it is physical damage from the PB

I have a swallowtail angel that got it. It went away in a week or so. I would not have been able to catch him either way. All other fish in the tank were fine, so I am guessing my case was the result of a scratch to the eye.

Im thinking this is what happened, although with all the aggression I think its best that I moved him to the fuge. I wish I could have caught the PB since he is the one that needs a little time out...I left a net in all night last night which kept him at bay. The yellow didnt even put up a fight when I tried to catch him.

Ive wanted a yellow for some time to add some contrast to the tank. If I lost my yellow Id be really sad, just think of what would happen if I lost a black tang...

I try not to think about losses when he brings stuff home. Too much worrying makes the hobby too much of a work out on the heart lol. Do our best to enjoy what we can afford and roll with it.

When using the picture trick to ward off agreesion is it pics of the agressor or pics of the agresee that you put up? I forgot....never tried it but I might when I put the yellow back in the DT.

Ita generally a pic of the new fish u are about to introduce. No matter how aggressive a fish is, it will be timid in new surroundings

I'd watch and wait a bit. If it shows signs of infection, QT with antibiotics for 7-10 days would be in order.

So...when I moved him to the fuge only one eye looked affected - when I checked on him just now both eyes are protruded and are glazed over with a thick white film. I cannot get a good look but I know the fish is completely blind by its actions. I fed a little mysis and nori soaked in vitamins and metro & focus but the poor thing doesnt know that food was all around. I thought I saw her pecking a bit at the water so hopefully she is eating a little..

I'm not quite sure what to do. I can move her to a 25 that is set up and treat but I have no idea what to treat for...so I havent. any suggestions? I would hate to do nothing though.

That's infection. QT with Neomycin (Seachem NeoPlex) or Kanamycin (KanaPlex). 7-10 days on the treatment - QT until well after the symptoms have gone away (I'd suggest 4 weeks after either treatment is over or symptoms subside, whichever is later).

Can't do that in the display (or fuge)... you could try spiking the food with that and Focus but you might have a better result treating the water in a QT.
