I've just about acquired all the dry goods for my build, and would like to ask what brand/size return pump is choice for a 93g cube? Looking for something that has a quiet operation, quality parts and energy efficient. Any suggestions?

I was always recommended Eheim pumps. The 1262 is the largest they have around 900gph.

I use an Ocean Runner 3000 on my 90 gallon and love it. It is super quiet.

I like the eheims as well you can plumb externally very easy and my 1260 is super quiet

The eheims are great pumps. I'm also a HUGE fan of the marineland maxi-jet pumps (the GREEN ones, NOT the black ones). Energy efficient, very quiet, minimal heat, good flow and reliable.

Not a fan of mag pumps. Too much heat.

Check out the Eheim Compact+ line of pumps. I went with a 5000.

Impeccable quality, unrivaled reliability and efficiency.

Can be used internally or externally. Built in adjustable flow.

Water Blaster, Mag, or Eheim. The Reef Octopus Water Blasters run very cool and efficient.

that's what I got for my 90. Love it!

Much better quality than the mag pumps, quieter, and less heat.

+ 1

The marineland submersibles are great Italian pumps at a great price point. Eheim are alsi great German pumps; more costly, though.

Mag pumps are junk..get waaaaay too hot and use a lot more power than the ML.

There is no pump that will work well with that tank you posted in the other thread. Being the nice guy I am I will take it off your hands for $100 then you no longer have to worry about finding a pump. :-)

I knew you saw the "beer edge" on the stand.

Forgot about that pump. I dumped my Mag 9.5 for a quite one and it was night and day difference: ran cooler, quieter and just as powerful. Cheaper too, from what I recall.

What is the flow rate on the 5000? The eheim site lists a range of 660-1320 gph...

So far, it's between the Eheim and the water blaster... The Eheim is roughly $100 cheaper. Has anyone had both and if so, how would you rate each one?
