Your favorate green hair algae eater - recommendations

Hi folks: All of my parameters are excellent including 0 phosphate. Apparently, I didn't have enough hair algae to keep my snails alive (so they are now all dead), but hair algae has returned to my back glass. What is obvioulsy reef safe and preferably an invert that won't eat my other inverts? Thank you,

Mexican Turbo Snail - I had 3, munched HA like crazy. You may have to pick them up and set them on the problem area over and over again to keep them munching but it worked for me.

Thank you. I have have too many ich outbreaks with Tangs. I am surpised know one said nudibranchs.

I just went and bought the turbos again. I will shorthen my photo period bt a half-hour too. Just one of those things.

Sailfin tang + Mexican turbos works for me

Sea Hare works wonders for me. They munch it so clean that it doesn't come back (usually). Pure Reef in Alpharetta had several last weekend. Heep in mind that you will have to trade the Sea Hare away once it is done or it will starve. I keep rotating mine from tank to tank.

I use RODI for everything. No Na. Went back to the turbo snail and they are having a picnic.

I bought one a while back for my fish only 75g tank and he/she is virtually useless. Eats food that I put in the tank but is not a voracious algae eater. I guess they are like people some like chocolate and some don't. Some like beer and some like scotch. All I can say is my guy's doing well just not doing his job!

Don... I suggest you keep the scotch away from the tank.... like eight feet away and setting on the table next to your chair... with a little ice and maybe a splash!

He isn't kidding! I just got a Sea Hare today from Pure Reef and the thing is a machine. The rock is completely clean where he has eaten so far. Would have never known the algae was ever there.

Bleach worked well for mine.Just dont pour it in your tank

I wouldn't say that's the best way to put it. Then are water changes "Hiding it"? Or cutting light and food hiding it? I'm more apt to say the three things I just mentioned are more "hiding it," opposed to finding symbiotic organisms that complete a food chain circle. Some people may have to use fish or inverts, where others have the capacity to do a refuge with mangroves that will eliminate much of what the nuisance algae is using to grow.

Sea urchins are in charge of my Algae control. Unfortunately they eat coraline algae aswell so ill never have my tank purple up but the rocks are spotless and the glass is pretty well maintained. Considering getting 1 more currently have two.

Tony,
I recently needed a little boost to my cleanup crew and i stopped by Purereef to get some extra help. They reccommended some more hermits (scarlet and blue striped) so i got some and Jorge also suggested Turbos. I got some of all and my tank is cleaner than ever now.
