The thing with corals is, if you didn't buy them with a name they don't have one.
So many look alike - so unless you can prove lineage or have a certain credibility in the coral world, they will only be pretty nameless zoas...

Edit: And yes - I owe you a txt back.
Sorry man, soo busy...

No problem man....

I did buy them with a name, but I dont think the name matches what I have when I google an image of it. lol maybe another reason to stay away from Zoas

So if you bought them or got them from someone and forgot the name they don't have one? Interesting I guess you need to ask before you buy if the person has the papers otherwise they could just make stuff up. Learn something new everyday.

Zoas are zoas. Marketers make up fancy names for the especially pretty ones and it usually cranks the price up.

What does the name matter, if the keeper likes them? Their care is the same as an "unnamed" zoa. A name doesn't make them any more "special" (except where the price tag is concerned).

They're nice colonies - just enjoy 'em and don't sweat the names. Make some up if you want to - that's how all the named ones came about.

I guess a given common name would be useful if you are trying to describe the zoa to a person and no pics are available.

The orange ones were sold as creamcicles. The green ones where sold as nuclear yellows and pinkish ones as ring of Fire. The little ones with blue and green where sold as metallic green. 2 different sellers and I don't think they had names right unless you can name them whatever you want to.

Another consideration though with pictures... how they're lit can make a world of difference in how the colours appear. Also, in different living conditions, zoas (and any corals) can change somewhat as they react to their environment.

We've put colonies of the same stuff (hard and soft corals) in different systems under different lighting and they look vastly different, and some even change their appearance completely over time. We put some rather drab (brown) Ricordea yuma in our nano and now they're deep orange with dark purple - go figure.

Same with zoas - we put some rather unimpressive ones in there too (under LED) and now they pop.

Zoas are zoas. Some are brown, some are green, some are blue, some are pink... and plenty of combinations thereof...if you like 'em... get 'em!
