12G Long Planted Tank

Here's a pic of my 12 gallon super long planted tank. I'll probably be tearing it down soon to make a scape that is easier to maintain. The grass is nearly impossible to cut with the tiny tank dimensions and large driftwood.

It's been a lot of fun setting this up in my office!

I highly recommend a pair of these (or something very like) for trimming.

I have those exact scissors! Unfortunately it's just too difficult to open them up between the wood and glass. The tank is only 7" deep and much of the wood has less than 1" clearance from the glass.

I'm thinking I'll do a minimal iwaguni scape to give myself additional clearance.

I tried to talk my wife into a mini-Iwagumi for her 10g tank, but she wasn't interested, so I wound up giving her the best piece of rock I could find in my collection. It, too, poses some challenges maneuvering around to do maintenance in, I definitely feel your pain.
