180 Stand Question...

put some small scrap under it to brace it in the middle. i would put it in 2 places or say 1/3's and on the sides so it will be level.

Place the sister on the bottom side of the stand and yes all verticals need to extend the floor. They are what is handling the weight.

You don't have to fill in the whole bottom just the portion that the sump covers. All the verticals need to be extended to the floor.

Gotcha, Grouper. What's the best way to extend the verticals, you think? I assume you mean just the left, right and middle?

Almost done! Anyone see a problem with the pieces over the bottom extension?

I plan on doing the same thing on the other side. The middle, rear brace has a piece that goes to the floor already.

Still don't know what to do if anything about this middle brace!

I decided to reinforce the two rear panels. Probably overkill, but it never hurts!

I also replaced the vertical strip of the inside corner. The originals didn't go all the way to the floor of the stand, which I couldn't understand.

Lastly, I decided to use a wider center brace. Why not?

I further reinforced the center brace, just to be safe.

MOST important. I get this all over the place! :)

That's going to be a problem. I can't find the trim they used on this tank. At least not a HD. It's 3.5" and most resembles chair rail backing. If I have to redo all the trim, you'll all have a good laugh!

Cut a little foam, and "The Beast" is on the stand! I had a heck of a time finding a level spot in my garage. Even now, I swear I can feel the tiniest bit if "rocking", but I am hyper-sensitive to it now.

I haven't dealt with a traditional overflow in quite sometime, so I forgot I had to come down through the bottom!

Wow, there is just BARELY enough room for the bulkhead!

Edit: Time to fill 'er up!
