(*Note- i would be posting this thread in the member tanks sections but apparently i dont the right permissions) Hello all, as some of you might know I love me some rimless tanks and knew my next build would be one. After a month or so of looking around at used and new rimless tanks I finally found that he exact one I was looking for at a killer price! Last weekend I picked up a 75g Deep Blue Professional rimless tank , custom stand, and sump for $250. Needed at bit cleaned up but I've been working on it. Here's the tank itself before I cleaned it,

As soon as I had some time I started to clean her out.

The stand and the sump also needed some work

Quick update, just put a rubber mat and some string lights in the stand that I got today. Think it looks pretty good! I'll have to figure out some good cord management though.

Looking good. I'll be following along! Love the rimless tanks

You and me both! Im hoping this tank will settle me down for a while and make me quit wanting to set up new tanks, but we both know that's probably not going to happen

Haha good luck! I like the idea of the lights under the stand. Cool idea

You beat me to this one, if it was the one off cl. I called him and he said it sold :(
I picked up a 57 gallon rimless instead, which happened to be my other favorite.

Looks good!
You need to join to be a member. It's only $30 and worth every penny....
I've got the same tank 75 rimless, starfire, center overflow...
Different stand, mines black.

Thanks! Yeah I thought about staining or painting the stand but for right now I'm just going to leave it because it matches the desk in the room. Hoping to get it set up soon. Don't quite have all the equipment I need. Ro/di unit, skimmer, etc. But I'm planning on letting this tank cycle for 8 weeks while I get the rest of the stuff I need after the ro unit because I don't see myself getting 100 gallons from my lfs planning on adding a few support beams soon just to be safe then this project will really be underway.

*crawl update* today I tested the eheim 1260 pump that I also got with the tank. Barely used and works like a champ!

Well I'm finally back with another update. I've had some set backs these past couple weeks so I apologize on the lack of updates. Been doing some research into how I want to do the plumbing. Posted a thread a couple days ago regarding silent drain plumbing and got some great responses/ideas. Still not 100% sure how I want to plumb the drain but Crew suggested a reverse durso in the sump I might try if I can still plumb it to my filter sock. Anyways, finally got my 3/4" and 1" bulkheads, 2 6" pieces of locline, a t for the locline, and cpr "sock it" filter sock mount which I hope is going to work.

The only trouble I'm having so far on this build is with my sump. It's a 20g long. I'm trying to pick out a skimmer which is going to fit and do this system justice.

Dimensions for the sump: 1st chamber 8x12x12, 2nd 9x12x12, 3rd 11x12x12
I've been looking into reef octopus and like the 150 space saver but read it has to operate in 7-8" of water. With the way the glass baffles are in my sump I'm not for sure what skimmer i can accommodate. So any suggestions are welcome! Stay tuned for more updates and thanks in advance!

Is your sump water level to high or low? What is the operating height is the skimmer compartment.

I'm not I was going to try and fit my return pump and skimmer in the 3rd chamber. Could I keep my water level 8" all the way across? The tanks only 12" tall

I would not put the skimmer in the 3rd section. Would you even have room? check out some of the Space saver skimmers. OR run an external octopus 110 skimmer. I used one of these when I was running a similar sump.

I might. Maybe not with my return pump in there. How'd that skimmer work for you? Is it a pain to plumb externally?

Worked fine. And you can even run it in the sump with no effect due to water level. You just need a small pump to feed it

Got my kessil spectral controller today for my kessil a360w I'm going to be using on this tank (currently using on my 20gl) .

alt="" /> Also have my reefkeeper elite plus coming in this week as well.Got a heck of a deal on it from BRS. It was $260 (usually $350 I think) cheaper than the reefkeeper lite plus and I got $100 back in store credit. Can't beat that. Now some of you are probably wondering why I didn't just use the rke to control the kessil but I wanted to be able to control the lights independently, plus the contoller looks pretty neat
Stay tuned for more updates.

I ended up getting the Reef octopus 150sss . I'm going to try and make it fit where I can still have my fuge but if all else fails I'll have a separate fuge I can plumb externally.
