Picked up a 1/2" 8'X4' insulation foam board from home depot. Hopefully it'll help "cushion" the tank and reduce any pressure points throughout the bottom. Glad I picked up a big piece. I first cut a 48x18 piece but didn't realize the stand was 48 3/4"X 18 3/4". So I cut to.those dimensions and it fits perfect!
alt="" /> All I have to do now is cut out where the overflow is in the back.
Not much of an update on the build, but the reef octopus 150sss I recently got. Believe it's finally broke in. Pulling out some dark stuff not like my old cpr skimmer.
Ok I should have said, IMHO you are asking for trouble mounting ANY part of a controller inside a stand. It might be okay for a year or two with might being the key word. If you don't soak or splash it, your going to have salt creep on everything inside the stand eventually including you PC4 and SL1.
Have you checked the instruction manual and warrenty information, threads...?
Again jmo
As far as the warranty information is concerned, they say to get get them off the ground and directly above water. Never thought about the salt creep though so I guess I'll just have to be careful with it. Can't think of anywhere else i.could mount them besides the back on the stand but if for any reason the tank were to overfill, they'd probably be totaled.But DA covers just about everything besides water damge. The irony.
Back with a little update. We're getting pretty close to finally filling this thing up. Going to finish the plumbing up this weekend. Before I put the tank back on the stand (hopefully the last time I'll have to do that for a looong time) I re-installed the lights in the stand and for those that remeber earlier in this build I had led string lights but I replaced them with a white led string light.
alt="" /> I decided to use string lights because there really no where else I could mount a light. I can never find a flashlight when I need it so this is a nice feature. I have the lights plugged into a button switch.
alt="" /> I attached the excess and plug in side of the cord to some pre-existing hose clamps that were on the back
alt="" />
alt="" />I'll have to.figure out some.better cord management but onto plumbing next and leak testing.
Doing a couple quick things today while I have the time. Finally added more loc line pieces to the right nozzle on the return to even them up.
alt="" />
Also got the chance to vaccum out the stand and add the sump after I finished removing all the silicone from the baffel I removed.
alt="" /> Going to be moving the tank and stand to their final position on the opposite wall. Starting plumbing and leak testing tonight or tomorrow. The funnest way to spend a Friday night.
Managed to get the tank on the stand after cutting the overflow out on the insulfoam.
alt="" /> I'm going to be using the "cube" footstool to the left to hold my ato container. Tomorrow afternoon I'll be plumbing the system and leak testing. Stay tuned!
Alright so Saturday was a bust, was busier than I thought I was going to be but I found the time to plumb the system today.
alt="" /> pretty straight forward. for my drain I have a 1" reverse durso. Thought about doing a 1 1/4" durso but I already had the 1" laying around so I'm going to give it a try.
alt="" /> my first time plumbing with pvc and pretty much my first time plumbing lol. Going to.try this out and see how it does I might have to change something but we'll see. I'm gonna do a leak test in a few hours.
Also as you might notice the durso is a lot different from your average one. The stand is only 24" and the sump is 12" so I had to figure out how to plumb it in a tight place. The drain goes straight to the filter sock.
