not trying to hijack this post.

at the moment i only have a 75gal DT which is from the lower header to the left side. and yes it will have all 4 corners to the floor. just wanted extra (over kill) support in the middle of the 150gal DT to come in Feb.

That would be less expensive for sure. I think my guys charge more if they have to finish someone else hanging.

You stated earlier a question about returns...I may have missed the answer but I use Sea Swirls in my tanks for returns. They are great with the oscillation. Take a look at them. Nice build.

5 - 20,000K

5 - supposed to be actinic, but were actually green - they will be correcting

Yes - that's one 50w LED.

Contacted "idmart" on eBay and negotiated a deal - $20 for each 50W led. $20 for the driver.

The 20000k LED looks like a bright 10000k light to me. With actinics, I think it will be perfect.

Yep, I found some MeanWell dimmable drivers, though I went with 3 x 50W LEDs per driver.


The 50W LED chips really are driven with a 60W equivalent driver, which puts out 1700 mA at 30-36V.


For a single 50W LED, the Meanwell HLG-60H-36B is the correct version that's dimmable.

However, last I checked the HLG-60H versions weren't available in the US yet, due to not yet having the UL certificiation.


Since I'm going with 3 x 50W LEDs in Parallel, I went with a 185W version instead:

Actinic 50w led's finally came in.

Decided to work on it this weekend.

specs:

50w x 6
3 - 20,000K
3 - Actinic blue
4" aluminum rails
Will mount in a wooden canopy.

This thing is bright (will have to test for some real numbers)! I'll cover the middle 5ft of the tank with this. I have 2 other 120W led fixtures with the 2-3W led's that I'll use on the ends for now. Will see how it looks, works, etc., then make a call on what to do long-term.

500W over 330 gallons. I may get away with no chiller!

So Reefkeeper and Ufret came by this evening with a PAR meter. I didn't get all the numbers, but they told me the 50W 20000k + 50W Royal Blue was putting out the equivalent of a 400W metal halide! The numbers were more than double my 120W Evolution LED unit. We measured this over the 93G tank.

That's pretty sweet Jon. I wish that I had been there, as I would like to follow the build.

If possible, graph the PAR readings in 3D, like what has been done before by others. Uniform distribution is key (LxW), IMHO.
