You might remember me mentioning a few weeks ago that I finally bought a larger tank - moving from 90 to 180. :yay:

Trying to be patient and not rush things - here is what I have so far:

This is the 180 when I bought it. It is Oceanic, custom-made with both overflow in one corner. I think I will really like this - takes up less real estate in the tank. I did not care for the canopy, I will build a new one later - I also did not like the color of the stand.

So I started with sanding the stand and prepping it to paint it white. It is going upstairs in my former dining room. Yes, former - my wife sold the dining room set to make room for my tank. To be honest, we rarely used that area, but I still appreciate it.

You might also remember my questions about support upstairs - 2 contractors agreed that it should be fine. It is sitting on top of a load bearing exterior wall in cement - whew

I used an Apoxy Appliance paint on the inside - I don't really care for it and may yet put something on top of that still.

This part is over - now we had to move it upstairs. Wow, a 180g is VERY heavy. Called on a buddy and my 14 year old son to help.

I have also painted the trim on the tank white. Now to just work on the plumbing and get it going. I guess I will not have it ready before the frag expo but that's ok.

Edit:

Edit: Also, I will be selling my 90g when this is finished - I expect about 2-3 more weeks.

It's good to have friends. So you are not going to do the obligatory child in fish tank shot, I think you should have the room now.

lol...my son is taller than me at about 6'. I guess he would fit as the tank is also 6' - but, no:shades:

Just realized I have not posted any updates - the tank is up and running. The great news is that everything survived the move. My plate coral disappeared for about 3 weeks - I just knew he was a goner, but then one day he surfaced and is larger than ever.

The 180 when I started to where I am now. I still have just a few things to do to the stand; I might paint the light cover and maybe add some trim to the canopy.

I have the BRS dual reactor running in my sump, working on my calcium reactor and auto top-off. Then maybe I can relax some.

The setup looks awesome painted in white! What color blue did you use on the back of the tank or is it black and just looks blue from the lights?

Thanks - It is black, which I like because the overflow seems to blend in more.

I think it is the camera (phone) making it look so blue. Granted my lights are blue, but not quite that much :-)

Still want to work on the aquascaping, that is a major job

Thanks everyone!

I could not have done it without everything I have learned here. I truly appreciate all the info shared here.
