What is it exactly . I'm referring to the stinky mucus that they excrete when there aggravated from touching .
Is it just food waste or is it a defense mechanism . It smells something awful from some sps and others not so much .
I don't make it a habit of touching all over my sps but sometimes its inevitable when you snap a piece off during maintenance and it requires glueing .

why are you rubbing your sps like that?

its just mucus

btw.. my wife is from conyers

graduated HS in 95

I don't think its the touching they dislike so much as the licking , they really dislike that..... ... J/K

I very rarely do touch it , but I hit a piece today with the back of my hand and broke it off its base rock so I grabbed it to glue down and it slobbered in my hand.

 Will keep that in mind.. It's a tuff job but someone has to do it.

I think it is a defense thing, I had a colony that would slime over anytime I put epoxt in the tank... didnt matter how far away I was with the epoxy... it would always slime... never really saw a negative effect from it.
