Alien Starfish

I walked past my tank after the lights went out and found my starfish standing on top of the rock waving an arm around. He then proceeded to walk around the rock still upright. He reminded me of the shredding machines from war of the worlds. Any ideas what was up (besides his body)?

It looks like a serpent starfish.

It is, he had turned a nice shade of dark red as he's aged, he is just acting really strange:fish:
