alkalinity and KH and zoas

ive had a few zoas show problems lately much like the other recent thread...the edges seem to be melting...someone suggested ALK being too high...i tested mine with a salifert test...my KH is 9.9 and my alkalinity is 3.54

are these values horrible? would they be the cause of the zoas doign poorly...other larger polyp'd zoas in the tank seem to be ok...i know some just melt for no good reason but when its more than one colony that ive had for awhile it seems suspicious of something being wrong

IME high KH will not cause Zoa's to melt or die. And when I say high I mean 13.9

my Mg is 1110...is that too low?

Edit: i should mention its a 30 gallon tank and i do 5 gallon water changes weekly with red sea coral pro salt..i wonder if i should up the SG to 1.025 or more

I would say it's low. Not sure if it has any impact on Zoa's but the lowest mine has ever been is 1250 or so.

so if im doing regular water changes in this nano setup and i dont have lots of SPS soaking up the calcium should i dose for calcium and magnesium?
ive never dosed before but suppose i can start..i always thought if u did weekly water changes your values should be pretty good

is there a reason magnesium goes low?
