Wanted to share a sloppy pick this morning of my tank.
A few months ago, it went through a major problem with low No3 and high Po4, That caused an imbalance system. If anyone ever experienced that you know what happened.
Not only was sticks not happy.
But HA, cyno. At this time its fully recovered. I have just enough HA to keep my tangs and snails happy.

Looking good! I'm working on my No3 and Po4 as well. I find that I keep adjusting it frequently... I think my issue is that my chaeto sucks up varying amount of nitrates depending on how big the ball gets. Right now I'm literally dosing 160ml of fairly potent sodium nitrate a day in one of my tanks. The other is only at 50ml.

I was dosing sodium nitrate, Got it up to 6-8ppm.
Stopped dosing, after a month, I'm back to 1 ppm.
I am not a fan of dosing sodium nitrate. I'm trying bad husbandtry.
Feeding heavy, 1 month WC, and running gfo.
As of now, No3 -1ppm, Po4- .04
This is what I was using.20181022_225713.jpg

Since I took socks off, set skimmer at idleling. Feeding heavy, WA change monthly.
Here is my nitrates, looks like over 4ppm. Po4 remained at .04 It worked.

180, I'm truly a big fan of Mexican turbo, I have 7 in my tank., along with 30 Astrea
20 margarita, 50 blue leg, 5 red leg.
Out of all, The Mexican turbos were the best. Just keep in mind, they like cooler temps, I keep mine at 77degree. My HA problem was very serious.
At this time, its almost 100% gone. But keep this in mind, a healthy reef tank in my opinion, should have some HA.

I've found hair algae or cyano is always an ongoing problem lol. I'm not sure you can ever get rid of the stuff, but if you have enough nutrients for coral to grow then usually enough for that type of algae. I have great luck using turbos, margaritas, nerite, and cerith snails. Ive had people recommend pincushion urchins but never tried them out myself. They apparently eat all types of algae. Especially cyano

I have 2 pincushions in there, They do a good job, but the snail and crabs are not happy with there taxi service around the tank.
