hi all I am a noop here but have ran salt b4 Just started a 40b and is 3 weeks into it I have been doing alot of reading and learning from you all and always will be open for any and all help. Right now I have 4 damsels and lr to start things up. I am running a sump and a canster. Already thinking of makeing my 55 fresh into salt again and will most likely do it once i get the 40 going. I hope to one day get to atl and see your tanks and meet you all. now the first thing i must ask is that i have a 2 strip damsal that seems to have some fin root on its tell with a ply frig in the tank and lr what would you us to treat it ty in advince

What are your readings on Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrates? I think you might be rushing your tank, it causes too many problems down the road, like sick animals. If your LFS will take the healthy fish back I would take them and ask for a med for fin rot for the sick one. Test your tank ever few days if you have any Ammonia/Nitrate use a product call prime to bind the Ammonia/Nitrates. A good bacteria will help also. Have patience! :yes:
trust me not in a hurry I it will take a long time to get back to where i was. The 40b tank is just the start up to me replaceing my 55 with a 75 and going totaly mad lol.but when you have your tank in the main room you most have something in the tank one to get it going and two just to look at.I still have lots of things to learn and learn again also still have lots of stuff to get but things are comeing togather like thay should be but thinks on the input will take all i can get

Yea, nh3 is poisonous to fish. Even the smallest amount

Are you using a water treatment?
Nitrate at 20 isn't going to be instantly dangerous to fish. It's also unlikely in such a young tank unless you used old sand or rock that had been poorly maintained previously and became a nutrient sink.
Have your water checked with a different test kit.
If the damsel has tail damage - is it alone in the tank or are there other fish there too (ie more damsels?) If so it could be battle wounds.
Photo of the damage would be helpful but before you go gunking up your tank with "remedies" that don't work, let's make sure you really have a problem.
If it's mechanical injury, it will heal itself in a few days if nothing tears it up again, as long as there's no infection. Infection changes the game, but it's rare in otherwise healthy fish that get a little injury.
If it is some sort of infection, either treating in a quarantine tank at best, or at the least, treating with medicated food will be in order.

jenn I used live sand and rock $ damsels in the tank and have been watching it looks to be healing might be ich and did a new test with a buddy looking at things I say 20 he says 0 so might be in my old eyes lol and spiderman alll i am useing for now is novaqua plus water conditioner
this is an update on my tank I am in week six now all seems weel i have done three water test all in great range and now is useing ro water. I have added six harmits and a few surms and some ployps, and a leather all looks well think i may need more lighting but have that on hand just got to find time to install them. I think now is the time i can say if anyone has some of that free stuff hit me will take anything i think i can grow
week 8 all is well on the 40b. for the ones that say i am in a rush guess you would need to be in my head lol and here is a bit of what my plans are. Gave all my fw fish away in my 55 and now have got it cleaned out and added fro water to set for 2 weeks. Added salt last night and in works of getting the refug installed today. Salt water will set for 2 weeks before i add lights or anything ealse. everything going in the 55 will go in the 40b first for a good grow but anyway thinks all hope to see some of you all on the 5th
