It has been almost three weeks since I started cycling my tank and I did a water test yesterday and the ammonia is zero an there is only a trace amount of nitrite. So hopefully I can get so life in there soon. Woohoo!
My glass is starting to get tiny little specs all over it and a few patches of brown algae. My lights are only on 4 hours a day. Is that whats causing it? When I get my CUC will they take care of it or do I need to scrape it?
I havent posted any pictures yet, but I'll probably start a thread to keep yall posted because I love following everyone else's tank's progress.

Yes the cuc will take care of it...I do the same i love to read other build threads as it gives us all ideas for our tanks

Do the snails or crabs eat it? Or both? How many should I get to start off my 29 gallon?

Grab a Magfloat glass cleaner and polish it up as required. Stay away from the caulking with the scapers! Watch out for the sand as you clean near the bottom! Sand will scratch up the glass as it can get in the magfloat. The "aminals" are good for the rocks IMHO.
Have fun with that. Everyone else does.....not.

Seeing how you've had the patience so far, you probably won't succomb, but right about now is when overly eager folks are tempted to drop in a ton of fish at once. Resist the urge and keep going slow and steady like you've been doing all along. Good job.

I say since you're already over at Tech, (right?) go see Tim at Keen Reef. He'll set you up with an appropriate clean up crew and tell you which types do what.

Yeah Tim is great he's been really helpful so far. I was going to head over there this weekend.

I just took some actually. I will post them a little later. So far its just rock in the tank. and a dirty front glass. boring.
