Am I not Worthy?

I feel I am not worthy for your club. I attended a meeting you had a year ago in Lawrenceville. I was talking to an officer of your club and when I said that I was from Lawrenceville (born and raised) he turned his back on me and walked away (because Lawrenceville was in the sticks). I was in the middle of a sentence and he walked away, I was still talking and he walked away. That does not make me feel welcome. I cannot help where I'm from, nor what I stand for. I believe that a club should help everyone that has questions, or needs. I have logged on several times since then, I was hoping for different results. It seems to me that if I don't have a lot of money or don't believe in what y'all believe in that I am wrong and am unworthy of your club. I logged on tonight and seen that if I'm not a Paid Member that I can't see the posts on "Member Discount Count Poll", "Wholesale Prices", or even "Ideas on speakers". Does that mean that I don't count? Just one Question! Is this club about the hobby or is is about what money can I can bring to this club? It seems that it is money. I am a newbie, only 1 year in the hobby, and I don't feel welcome. That's just my 2 cents. I hope that I'm wrong. Please advise me otherwise, my name is Tracy Reese and my phone number is 678-410-3547 and yes, I am born and raised in Lawrenceville.

sorry that you feel i wont comment what you wrote because i dont want to say things in the wrong way my intentions are not to come at you but i might sound that way hope you give this club a shot thats all i can say good luck in keeping your reef and hope you do decide to join some day

Whoever walked away like that is just rude and not a typical club experience with most members. As for being in the sticks, our new president of the club lives out there and several sponsers are there as well. We have people from way further out than that so where you live shouldn't be an issue.

As for the paid part. For those that pay $30 the club wants to offer value for the $30 beyond a discount. We want new comers to partake in the club but we also need money to keep things like these forums running and great speakers coming in for our meetings.

Sorry you didn't feel welcome at first. Hang out for a while and see if we can change your mind.

My Point! No comment except to come at me.

I want to play nice. Help me in doing so! I can bring things to this club,. I'm sure I can get more things from this club than I can bring. They are far better minds here than I have.

<span style="color: black;">I can't think of any of our club officers that would have done this to you. That has to be a misunderstanding. As for the post you are unable to see, they are in a club members only area that was created as a benefit for supporting the club. The club needs money to run. It actually cost money to hold meetings, bring in speakers, and pull off events like a club BBQ, holiday party and frag meeting. Without the dues many of the fun things that this club does would not take place. What value would the membership have if the members section was an open forum or if the club gave a membership card to every person that signed up on this board for free. If you feel like you can bring something to and get something from this club then join. Trust me, we welcome everyone. It would be great to have you join on board.</span>

why would you quote me on that i spacificaly said i wasnt tring to come at you i tend to word things strongly sometimes and dont want you to get the wrong idea about me or this club i live in lawrenceville just like you and think i have a place in this club and i have never felt otherwise please give this club a chance and dont take things that are writin here to personal as you cannot see my emotion while i type.

Thank you showtime, I appreciate the welcome. But if I don't pay I don't get the discounts, Right? I can understand the needing of funds and if I would not have been so rudely abjected a year ago, I would have gladly paid the dues. For the the record it was a future 2007 officer. I don't remember what position, but he was voted in that night.

You are very welcome in this club. If someone turned away from me when I was talking, I would be apt to punch them in the face :) No excuses. Whoever did that is a loser.

As far as not being able to see things, everyone has already addressed it. If you want to contribute to the club, then contribute.

Thank You Victor. It's just that I have a bad taste in my mouth about this club and I don't want to. I took your commit to be that you were holding your tongue and didn't want to say something negative, so you said nothing. Thank you for clearing that up.

<span style="color: black;">I attended that meeting in Lawrenceville also. It was a new meeting space for the club and that night was probably a bit hectic for some. Give it another try. I'm not sure if the election meetings are the best for a newcomer but if you’re up to it, you are welcome to attend the November meeting.</span>

no prob and believe me we are like a family here some tiimes things seem to fire up here but then when a mamber is in need everyone chips in and then we go to fighting like brothers and sisters on a side note welcome and sorry you had to introduce yourself like this

Thank You all for the positive response, I intend to attend the November meeting. I hope it will be more pleasant than last years. I believe it November of last year. How ironic?

Tracy,

I am sorry that you have had that past experience. It is not that you are not wanted here. We have member areas that we ask for member input. The meetings are for anyone but the members who make them happen have a voice in who they want to bring. Some topics and offers are just for members. I am sorry if that makes you feel like an outsider or second class citizen, it is not intended that way at all. We do open up group buys to everyone, most of the time (it is at the choice of the person setting up the group buy) and we always open the door to everyone to ask questions and come to meetings.

Cameron is right, as next years president, I live not more then 3 miles from you. Believe me, we have a good number of members from all over the state and atleast 10 within 10 miles of your home. We are out here in the "stick" but we enjoy it that way and there is still alot that the club offers to us. You can meet people close by who share the hobby. You can meet up and get to know us most anytime you want, heck we will be at the frag swap in your back yard this weekend (see link: http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?p=96447#post96447">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?p=96447#post96447</a>). I personally invite you to come out get a frag or two and have a drink with us afterwards.

Hope to see you around,

Brandon
