Am I not Worthy?

Thanks Brandon, maybe I'll see you at the frag swap and go into more detail of my experience with ARC.

Doug, I sent you a PM, I think.

I am sorry that you have had that past experience. It is not that you are not wanted here. We have member areas that we ask for member input. The meetings are for anyone but the members who make them happen have a voice in who they want to bring. Some topics and offers are just for members. I am sorry if that makes you feel like an outsider or second class citizen, it is not intended that way at all. We do open up group buys to everyone, most of the time (it is at the choice of the person setting up the group buy) and we always open the door to everyone to ask questions and come to meetings.

Cameron is right, as next years president, I live not more then 3 miles from you. Believe me, we have a good number of members from all over the state and atleast 10 within 10 miles of your home. We are out here in the "stick" but we enjoy it that way and there is still alot that the club offers to us. You can meet people close by who share the hobby. You can meet up and get to know us most anytime you want, heck we will be at the frag swap in your back yard this weekend (see link: http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?p=96447#post96447">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?p=96447#post96447</a>). I personally invite you to come out get a frag or two and have a drink with us afterwards.

Hope to see you around,

Brandon[/QUOTE]

I was talking to an officer of your club and when I said that I was from Lawrenceville (born and raised) he turned his back on me and walked away (because Lawrenceville was in the sticks). I was in the middle of a sentence and he walked away, I was still talking and he walked away. That does not make me feel welcome. I cannot help where I'm from, nor what I stand for.

<span style="color: black;">I'm sure you're proud of being raised in Lawrenceville, as you and anyone else from the </span><span style="color: black;">Kingdom</span><span style="color: black;"> of </span><span style="color: black;">Gwinnett</span><span style="color: black;"> ought to be. My feelings towards this matter may be silly, but I doubt the "officer of ARC" actually walked away from you because of you geographics; maybe it's just your own misunderstanding.</span>

It seems to me that if I don't have a lot of money or don't believe in what y'all believe in that I am wrong and am unworthy of your club. I logged on tonight and seen that if I'm not a Paid Member that I can't see the posts on "Member Discount Count Poll", "Wholesale Prices", or even "Ideas on speakers". Does that mean that I don't count? Just one Question! Is this club about the hobby or is is about what money can I can bring to this club? It seems that it is money. I am a newbie, only 1 year in the hobby, and I don't feel welcome. That's just my 2 cents. I hope that I'm wrong. Please advise me otherwise, my name is Tracy Reese and my phone number is 678-410-3547 and yes, I am born and raised in Lawrenceville.

<span style="color: black;">This club do help everyone that needs help. You certainly do not know much about this organization before you've made your comments. I suggest you read this post right here:</span> <span style="color: black;">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=8982&highlight=club+acheivements">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=8982&highlight=club+acheivements</a></span>

<span style="color: black;">Most paid members-like myself-will be glad to help anyone who needs it.</span>

<span style="color: black;">As for the discount thing. ARC let sponsers post their ads and contact/store info here for free; in turn that they give its club members a 10%+ discount. I don't think it's fair to give non-paying members the same deal through the club-which is supported by $30 membership fees.</span>

If you need help then please post in the reef section, you will find fish club members here are pretty nice.

I think we should vote all Female reefers get a free lifetime paid member status!

I wont agree that ALL female reefers should get a free membership; rather we can vote on a individual basis. Picture is definitely required at the time of voting.  :D

Grim,
I too hope you change your mind... As a gesture of good faith from a member (not an officer) Contact me with your tank info, I should be able to hook ya up with some free frags! I too am in Lawrenceville!

I am sorry if someone walked away from you as you were talking, but it was a very hectic meeting and we will be glad to have you join us in a few weeks, please infroduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you and helping you with any ad all questions that you may have.

Having met and interacted with the 2007 officers over the past months, I can't think of a single one who would have intentionally turned his/her back and walked away from you in mid convo. I'm betting it was one of those meetings filled with distractions where people are pulled in 10 different directions at once and maybe you missed hearing an *excuse me*. Since this was a voting meeting, there was probably a lot to squeeze into the evening. Some meetings contain more business and some are more like social gatherings.

I don't think there's too much focus on money and I felt it was a privilege to pay the $30 to get all the benefits. Even without all the benefits, $30 would be a reasonable donation (in my opinion) just to be part of this group.

Hope you'll be at this month's meeting, but bear in mind it'll be another business meeting and there might not be as much socializing as you'll find at frag-swaps, BBQ's and bar 'n grille meetings.

Please consider giving the ARC another chance.

:)

Thanks for the shoulder Billy:lol2: and you can keep those @#%^$# Kenya's. I'm still trying to get the rest of them out of my tank. When I think they're all gone, I find another one hiding out somewhere.

Agreed!!

Oh, and you didn't say 'our' picture right??? So I get dibs on Ouling's UPS girl pic!!

And welcome to the club, Tracy!! I havent' met most of the people on here, but they are a super group of guys (and girls)! By the way- I'm out in the 'sticks' myself- an hour and a half out!

Grim..

ARC is an excellent club and resource for everything reef! Don't let one incident speak for the majority of this wonderful club. Glad you are giving it another try, looking forward to meeting you ant the next meeting.

And BTW, there are plenty of people that aren't worthy....Reefers like Chrisjet, Seedlessreefer, and even that one guy Dakota!

"For the the record it was a future 2007 officer. I don't remember what position, but he was voted in that night" ....if they were running and soon to be voted in they probably were not in their right mind that night :) ....just kidding!
Seriously, I do think grimreefer has a point. I think more effort needs to take place to welcome new people who come to meetings and do not know anyone. Sometimes it is easy for us old timers (speaking of myself) to get into the habit of hanging with those we know. It would be nice if we could all try to make an effort to introduce ourselves to new members and ask them about their tank. Just my .05 (inflation)
Grimreefer, I hope to introduce myself to you at the next meeting!
Sally
