Hey there. I have a 4 inch BTA in my tanks and after doing a small change to my scape, part of the anemone is under one of the rocks. My question is can an anemone pull itself out from under a rock without hurting itself? The rock is only like a pound in weight and it’s not even particularly leaning on the anemone. I just can’t seem to get them anemone our without knocking everything over. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

did the anemone go there on it's own or did you flip the rock over on top of it?

If you caused it - I would consider rolling the rock off the anemone - expect it to get mad and wander off someplace else.

If it went there on it's own - leave it alone.

Thanks for the advice! The anemone kind of sucked in as the rock moved so it was hard to tell if it was stuck or not, but luckily it seems to have gotten itself out and is doing fine again. Thank you again!

I can’t imagine many practical scenarios where an anemone could be crushed/pinned by a rock. They are essentially an amorphous blob of mostly water. And if absolutely necessary, they can split themselves, get out of whatever predicament they are in, heal, and then regrow.

Still, glad he is doing better already!

I had one ripped apart by a turbo snail.
