another pump size question??

im not really mathematically smart when it comes to this stuffso....

ive got a 40 breeder and 10 gallon sump
1" drain 3/4 return
55" from sump to tank or 4' 7"
would a mag 5 be enough or too much

IMO a Mag 5 would be just fine!

at 55" this will pump 310 to 250 gph
does that sound like enough flow

You really dont want a lot of flow through your sump. Let the power heads do the work.

If you want to back it off you can always put a ball valve on it and reduce the output if need be. I'm running a Mag 5 on a 30g cube (a little less head height than you) and the output is not strong at all IMO. Don't get me wrong; it's enough, just not too much.

ive got 2 koralia 1050 and 1 older k1 is that sufficient flow for that size tank
