Noted yesterday that my anthias was not out swimming around. When he did come out he wasn't eating. Closer inspections I found scales lifted and a few light tan specks on his head. Today more scales are raised and he was staying in the upper corner of the tank...also not eating. Went to look just now and he is hiding. Anyone know what to do. I can't give water params because I just did a water change. Everything else is fine. Bubba

how long have you had them, what have you been feeding and how often, and tank mates please?

I have had him 2 years. Eats flake food and Rod's. Once a day, try to spot feed the Anthias 2 times. Wrasse, clowns, purple, powder blue, naso, hippo tangs. spotted cardinals,

Weren't you have big problems with Nitrates not long ago? Could that be the cause?

Sorry, I was thinking of this tread.

That's OK, I'm trapping those worms daily and nightly. I have taken pictures but I can't get them uploaded for whatever reason. Under normal circumstances I would be blaming the worms for the Anthias problem. Bubba

i would imagine it is one of those tangs picking on them. I recently took my naso and my desjardini out of my 125 and just kept my tomini and regal. All of my smaller fish are now out and about with a much more peaceful appearance. I'd start with getting the anthias away from the tangs or start getting tangs to smoothie, JMO

I knew that post about Smoothie would come back to be used against me ...just not this soon. Are we forgetting that this Anthias has tiny tan specks on his face....seems to be hiding all the time and when out hangs in the upper corner of the tank and is not eating. I think there is a medical issue here, what I am asking is if any of the members have seen this and what did they do to help. AND he was in the tank before any of the tangs who do not bother with him at all..the Orange Shoulder is going to be adopted by Smoothie in the next week. Bubba

Never mind.........he's gone. I just spoke with LiveAquaria and they have asked me to send pictures so that they might help find out what it was and tell me what to do with my tank besides do another water change now!

Man, I am sorry to hear that. Also, I wasn't trying to flame you or judge. I just remembered you had an issue and thought maybe it could be related. Was hoping that might help you find the answer. Anyway, sorry to hear he is gone.

just using the facts that are presented in front of me. these are all standard signs of stress, could be from medical problems...

Usually hiding high in the tank is a result being picked on. My guess is that he's being harassed.
