Just like the question above states. I have a Reefkeeper that one of the wires has pulled loose inside the male connector so I'm looking to see if anybody has the crimping tool and ends to redo this.

Was it one of the ones that I fixed?

The connector should have stayed on...

Did the connector pull off?

Otherwise, an RJ45 cable crimper should do.

Wasn't one that you fixed. That thing would probably never come off! This is actually a backup head unit for a RKL that I have. I just was looking it over and found the pulled out wire so I figured that I better get it fixed before I actually need it.

Ok, should be an easy fix.

Either I can do it, or McPhock... I have some time in the next few days, though I'm out next weekend.

Yeah, I thought it would be an easy fix. I just don't have the crimping tool. Not sure who is closer to me.

If I may,
Though I not familiar with your connector , I have more crimpers and dies than anyone and built up,and repaired 1000s+connectors ,
If this happen to me, I would solder it. Stronger , more corrosion resistant and easier.
is depinning the pin and socket from the connector plug /jack an issue? Any ID on them. Releasing pin locks ocan be tricky with out damage
Chances are I can get pins and sockets. Any color bands ?
Post a link to a good pic.
I work at a little plant in Marietta.

Even with the best crimpers, when I have RJ's, sometimes the pin won't break insulation an I have to set the pins with a small slotted screw driver that I filed to fit perfect the slot. At home I intially set the pins with channel locks to the flat and set them in with the flat head.

I'm in 30043. I wont be available until next weekend, but I'd be happy to lend or help.

Well as it turns out, I don't think that's the issue. It appears that somebody put a telephone cable on the head unit. I'll have to get the correct cable then solder it back on.

I still have the other half of that orange network cable if you want it. :)

You up to doing that repair?

The solder pads are on the back of the board, and are labeled with color codes to match a standard Ethernet cord.

Oh really? Hhhmmmm...then you may just get another one to do. I can solder, just don't have a gun small enough to go in the space required so I'm afraid that I'd get solder over to the next connection and then I'd be SOL! LOL. (I wonder if Aqua Illumination thought of this when naming their lights??)

I'd probably be better of shipping it to you.

So, as it turns out... Reefkeeper LITE</em>s use a RJ12 jack, a 6-pin phone jack connector similar to the standard RJ11 phone cord...

Different than the RK2 display module I fixed...

And it looks like someone tried to solder on a replacement cord on this one before, the solder joints on the back of the board are a bit messy.

I thought the same thing. The person I got it from tried to tell me that was the original cord.

I saw a picture of someone else RKL display. The wire colors looked different, and the wires were glued to the board with hot glue for reinforcement.

There's a chance this is factory wiring, but it doesn't look like it...

I don't think it is because I opened my other RKL and just like you said....it was hot glued for reinforcement and it has 6 different colored wires whereas that one only has 3 different colors even though it's 6 wires.

The one I have here does have 6 different colors, it's just that half of them are striped.

Eg, blue, blue/white stripe
