The person I skope to at Hydor, she said they have a few of them running in the office and she could hear then start, accross the room
I am not sure if the 1700's is louder thwn the smaller ones

Well that's a bit disappointing. I wonder what the O-rings will cost for a pack, and how long they'll hold up. Seems like something you want to have on standby, not have to wait for or go to the store for.

just made a discovery, one of the power head is defective, must be the one that was fully assemble in the box when I got it.
I had the two new ones on the same channel so it was hard to isolate the clank, yeah it was a clank, it did not clank all the time
I can live with clicks but not with clanks,

sorry for the bad info

Here is an update on my not so quiet power heads
I was assured that there was nothing wrong with either them, that this is normal for them.
The exact problem I was having was this, the noise would alternate between the two of them, every fifth time they comes on, I could here the vibration from the acrylic , like someone thumb on the tank.
It gotten to the point that I did not want to be in the same room with the tank, I was ready to throw them in the trash, so I decided to return them for some magnums.

Please note:
This is just my opinion of this noise, and while it may be ok for other people, it was not for me.
