apex re start

Just saw your post about no-ip.com. That really won't help us here. This is a connection between your ISP, router, and Apex. Good to see you are researching, though.

Let's try to add the apex...

Can you follow these directions, and see where that leaves us?

thanks for your help by the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, but it seems like the power outage dropped all of your IP addresses, and since they are not static, they have changed...

It's no problem with the help. I ended up calling Neptune to get mine up and going...

Well, we the dyndns tries to make it static, but, at the end of the day the ISP (Cox, Charter, knology, etc...) can change it...

We actually get to choose what the IP address is. Make sure that you don't choose static, and type in whatever you want for the IP address. Take your IP address, and add one...

I'm guessing is starts with 192.168.1..***

the 2wire settings are also way diff than the vid.. i am under firewall settings now and looking for something custom..

Edit: it also says choose a computer that will host applications through the firewall?

Edit: and i thought my current ip was the 98.80....?

For this installation, the firewall normally needs to be turned off... We can turn it back on once we are done.

Let's get you a new IP address first. You can either hold down the power button on the router for 30 seconds, or uplug it for about 10 minutes...

I wouldn't feel comfortable about asking you to do that until we know our path. Would you be alright with me calling Neptunes tomorrow, and getting some direct insturctions we can read? That way, your firewall won't be off for long...

sure... it's nighty nite time anyway :o)

im out in the boonies, so not too worried about the firewall being off for a bit if needed.
txt me in the morn at 478256 78 70 ..will prob be faster than typing in this thread lol! and i can send screen shots fast too

Thanks again!
mike

Got a very helpful PM from Roger that will probably help out here. Seems like your 2wire router is the reason the install and config is different that I remember. Check out page 31 on this link...
