Moving in a few months and thought about upgrading at the same time. A 120 looks to be 48" long but deeper and wider. Any thoughts on using this light for a reef tank sps/lps? It's currently over my 75.

(4) 36" T5 HO 39W Actinic / Blue Lamps
(1) 36" T5 HO 39W 10,000K Lamps
(1) 36” T5 HO 39W Purple Lamp
(4) 1W Lunar LED`s

is that it?

oh yeah clicked the wrong size. I think that is the same thing or close to what my brother has on his 120. I dont think he has added any coral to that tank yet but theres a couple nems and they looked good. I'll ask him what he thinks about it and get back to ya

someone should know the answer to this question on here!! lol

bummer

The most beautiful SPS system I have ever seen runs T-5's. I would just add a couple of banks and try it Kenny, since you already own it.

I'll give you an Icecap ballast if you want to see. They drive the bulbs at 148% too! ;)

I use the same fixture on one of my tanks and I have a good amt of SPS
It is a 4 ft tank but its shallow. 48x24x12
I have ATI Blue + x3 ATI Blue Special x2 Fiji Purple x1
Seems to wk. I did have a 10 K on one side but I added another Blue Specail and I had to raise the light it was to much for my shallow tank it sits 20-24 inches over the corals and thay do fine.

I did just add a Eshine Led to the side of the fixture and I only run the blues few hours a day and seems to be doing great, other than I have so many SPS my AlK was jumping around.

Seems like I read that the ATI AquaBlue Specials have high Par and reach down deeper than the 10 K but after reading the diffrence between all the bulbs the info seems to run together. The ATI Blue+ has alot of PAR also and that would help reach deeper than the Act. bulbs
I think you would be fine. You could also add a couple Panaroma Pro Strips to supplement.
I am going to see about a 8 bulb or maybe a 10 when I upgrade to a bigger tank but if you have the 6 bulb I would give it a shot.

Thanks. Just the encouragement I needed. I figure the worst case any sps is high and in the middle. Supplementing on the sides could also boost coverage.

Looks like I'll be on the hunt for a 120 soon.
