I bought an almost full bucket of Salinity from another ARC Member here when I picked up another piece of equipment from him off the FS forum. I mixed up 160 gallons of new SW using the Salinity a few days ago. It was mixed thoroughly. I use IO exclusively so this salt is a change for the reef. This was for my 465 gallon reef.
I added 30 gallons of the new Salinity and it clouded up the entire tank and made one of my acropora colonies slime up.
I know the cloudiness issue with Salinity has been addressed before, but I've never experienced it. The acro colony sliming up does bother me, however.
The efect seems to have subsided, and the tank looks OK now.
I'm wondering if I should just dispose of the remaining 130 gallons of new Salinity SW? The cautious Reefer says yes, but the cheapskate in me says no.
I have never seen an acropora colony slime up because of a small water change before.
