Just because "established marine science" doesn't back it up, doesn't mean it can't be true. This is true. BUT why would someone who has the best interest in livestock in mind want to avoid using a know, proven procedure in favor of something that someone says works simply because it appeared to for him?
Science doesn't back up my religion, so does that mean I should stop wasting my time and stop going to Sunday mass? I think not. Science is based on facts and knowledge and religion is based on belief and faith. Science has no goal of backing any religion. The two constructs are not comparable here.
Did you perform these test and studies yourself or was it something you just read? I have not. I have also not performed my own research studies related to the theory of relativity or atomic structure. That does not mean that I cannot or should not accept these. I make a conscious choice to read and understand scientific research that has been carried out with rigorous controls. I teach microbiology so I have read many peer-reviewed scientific articles about the life cycle, ecology, and erradication of Cryptocaryon.
I'll leave this thread with this last post and a quote.
"I read it on the internet, you can't post anything on the internet that isn't true".
Hgnuyen, I agree that there are often many ways of doing things, especially in this hobby. There are also some ways of doing things that are not "correct". Year after year I see thread after thread of people who struggle with ich outbreaks in their tanks. The biggest misconception is that if you can't see it, it's not present. That is wrong.
It is possbile to have a tank free of Cryptocaryon. There are very few proven ways to ELIMINATE this pest from our aquaria. Cleaner shrimp and garlic-infused are not one of them.
