Best filtration system for a nano...

I'm interested too... the sump under the wife's cube is pretty small. I can BARELY cram my Seaclown 100 in there... and we know how well they work. Better than no skimmer, though.

I'd love it if someone would make a very small skimmer of equal quality to their larger ones. A little 50g rated MRC with a 4x6 footprint? Sign me up yesterday.

So most all of you agree that you need a skimmer? I have been told by some there is no need for a skimmer, but just do more frequent water changes...but even with weekly water changes and smaller feeding, I am noticing too much junk in the tank...I have added more live rock, more flow, directing the flow toward that rock, and I am still noticing the junk...

I'm gonna go to fish scales and try to get a skimmer to fit this 30g long tank...

Well if you add more rock, you're adding more junk. Rock sheds because it's alive and it adds to the "waste" that livestock does as well. I've had a couple nanos in my years. Honestly, in my opinion, if you keep up with the husbandry of the tank, you don't really need a skimmer. And as some have said, it doesn't hurt either. The 12g I'm putting in my baby room will not have a skimmer. My very successful 15g mixed reef tank i use to have at my office didn't have a skimmer for the longest time. To each is own though.

This little project would be Great on a 30 Gallon Long!
