Ever bleached a tank before? I have had a 29g biocube running with no livestock for months and aiptasia is everywhere. Now I need the tank and I want to be sure to really get rid of everything. They are even growing off the back and sides.

I'd like to dump a cup of bleach in and call it a day. Leave the pump in? How long do I leave the bleach in? will dechlorinator remove all residue?

I've only done it to a used and empty tank. ran vinegar for 3 days, then emptied and rinsed, then ran full with a cup or 2 of bleach for 24 hours. Then emptied and rinsed, just glass, no rock in there. Your gonna have one heck of a cycle to bring it back after nuking everything including the live rock.

Why not just run fresh water for a week or 2? Then rinse well then recycle.

At the end of all this the tank will be emptied, washed out, and refilled with new water and a bunch of live rock from a tank that has been running for over 2 years. This rock was originally purchased as live rock from LFS. It's all coming out of my brother's tank that we are breaking down. He is moving and I purchased everything he has so I have to get everything in this tank dead, and fast.

Edit: a bunch of soft coral and some LPS are on the rocks coming from his tank. So it will essentially be a tank swap from a 55 to a 29. The remaining rock (it is at least 50 lbs) will be going in my frag tank.
