Water parameters are good. Just tested. Water change every 2 weeks. 250 x 2 MH . I don't know can't seems to get this blue acro to do anything. I do not have a ATO however I top off 2-3 times a day. I don't think I'm having salinity swings c-440 dk 9-10. I used coral rx dip when I introduced so I don't think I have bugs. Any suggestions. Seems to be dying from the base up:sad:

a full list of parameters would be nice , and name the test kits used to get them.
is this your first acro?

Magnesium, phosphates from a low level kit, and nitrates.....also...

I was being lazy in that post wasn't I! I hate to type so atlanta aq. I may call you at some point. Any how here we go:

Introduced acro on 7-31 (2) one blue and one yellow . LFS did not know the name. My first!!

Sal....1.024 since may
Temp..80 steady
PH...8.0-8.2
Alk 9-10
Cal..420-440
Nitrate..0
A...0

I'm running phosgaurd in the filter bag. I normally change it out every 2-3 weeks (1 cup)

I do not know my Mag or Phos. I am new to the hobby but should have a PHD with the amount of reading I have done:)
I have a 90 gallon tank that everything seems to be doing really well. LPS and Zoe's are doing great. My wife bought me my 3 first SPS. They are not doing well. In the pic you can see the blue one. The yellow is turning brown.

The white pieces are some kind of softy that came with the rock. I do not know what they are sorry .

This was an established tank that I bought. I had it installed in my house back in May. My parameters have been very steady. The blue started to turn white at the base and works its way up . I started it mid tank and now have it high.......rambling sorry...

Edit: I've had peeps tell me not to worry about the mushrooms. They will not cause a problem. Is that not true.??

I'm throwing my vote into the phosphate hat. High phosphates will block calcium uptake.

This what it looked like when I got it. Shouldn't the phosgaurd and refugium handle that problem??

+1
I for a wile had zoas and sps growth and my crap API test kit wasn't worth peanuts , I was running phosguard and puregin thinking my phos lvls were stable because nitrate were and stuff grew , needless to say I got a seachem kit and phosphate was around 1.0 with macro present , now we stay under .5 it reads 0 but I know the macros eat a lot ,
I would invest for a good magnesium and phosphate kit , you get what ya pay for , and its not like we all haven't spent the same amounts of $ on some coral.

Thanx ill get on it this week. Maybe that's it?

before you stick another SPS in your tank, or any fish, or any coral, it is not funny to NOT research requirements and add basic foods, needs, supplements, including major water movement, temp....

Hey mysterybox WTF are you trying to say ? I have done more research on this hobby than you can possibly know. Every fish, and LPS in my tank is doing great. I tried to take the next step and I'm struggling with SPS. So take ur pampas response somewhere else where it may be more appreciated. Sorry I tried to make you smile.

Have/did you acclimate the corals to your lighting system?

Maybe it's getting to much light... Sps as you know, can be tricky and can be difficult in regards to finding that sweet spot.

I think I did it correctly. I started this coral out down on the sand bed then moved it up to the 1/2 way mark and pretty much left it there. it begin to whiten out at the base. Now it is up in the upper column as a Hail Mary kind of move. Just to see if it makes a differance.

+1 if those blue mushrooms are growing like crazy, nutrient levels must be high

also, you should check for acro eating flatworms[aefw].
the dip in coral rx may or may not have gotten the adult flatworms but it would not have affected the eggs.
