Chapter 1: IM Nuvo40

It’s odd. None of my wrasses ever touched an invert and I would think if they’re well fed they wouldn’t feel the need to eat their tank-mates. We have a reef lobster and one of the big things with them is to make sure they’re well fed so they don’t feel the need to eat your fish or other livestock but not sure if the American applies with a fish.

Well the coris were fine with the shrimp. And then I added 4 emerald crabs.
I haven't seen the emeralds in about a week...so I'm not sure what happened to them. And then, obviously my fire shrimp got beat up.

My working hypothesis is that the coris took out all 4 emerald crabs, developed a taste for crustaceans, and went after the fire shrimp. The only hole in my theory is that my cleaner shrimp is the same size as the fire, and the cleaner is unscathed.

I now actually think its the emeralds pulling the legs off my shrimp

Ok so the fire shrimp molted once in isolation and regained 4 legs. I let it back into the tank and it was immediately attacked by the 2 clowns- savagely.
I had to beat the clowns off the shrimp and I transferred the shrimp to the frag tank.

OMG who wouldve guessed it was the clowns?

Anyhow I transferred the largest cleaner from the fragtank to the DT to even things out and so far everyone seems happy.

Wow! Clowns can be nasty! Wonder if the fire shrimp got too close to whatever they host and now they’re protecting their space. That’s crazy! I’m glad you figured it out though!

Yeh I guess clowns are part damsel so...mean little shits.

The cleaner from the frag tank is doing fine in the DT. And the fire seems to be doing fine in the frag tank.
I’m not sure we the clowns decided to go beserk on the fire shrimp. They’ve been together for about a year.

Fire shrimp has recovered in the frag tank…all legs have grown back. I still don’t know why the clowns went bonkers on it.
I have no more clams in the DT (2 in the frag tank). I’m done with buying new clams at this point. I have 6 shells displayed on my Noopsyche bracket.
With no clams, I went out and wanted to buy a tailspot blenny. Although I pointed out a tailspot at the LFS, I somehow came home with a bicolor blenny. I was a little vexed but it was really my fault for not checking before I left the store. The blenny is just black at this point and fairly ugly but it’s cool. I’m curious to see if the back will turn orange once he settles.

Blenny was a mistake. It nibbled on my tricolor acro so I had to get rid of it. I actually had to remove a large rock and shake him out. Unfortunately, that rock had the nem attached to it and I couldn’t get it back to its original position in the tank. So the nem, instead of facing to the right, was now faced straight up.
And it didn’t like it and decided to split. First split ever in 12+ months

A couple of days ago I my DT across the room and had to restack the rocks.

This morning I found one of my cleaner shrimp cut in half. I’m sure it was those murderous clowns. I’ve seen them attack snails and my fire shrimp before.
