Chapter 1: IM Nuvo40

The bright pink Goni is approaching the 4 month mark in my tank. This is the time that people say most go is start to melt away and as you can see it may be. As you can see it lost the deep red over time and hasn’t fully extended in a few weeks.
Ive been target feeding Then all reef roids but have ordered goniopower and another liquid supplement and will start dosing to see if it has any effect.

Updates:

1. Maxima died. Either destiny or related to the fact that I was lowering my phosphates with SeaKlear when I added him. It was being dosed into a 5 micron sock but perhaps the flocculant was small enough to get through the sock. It also fell twice from its rock perch.
2. Dosing SeaElements and feeding Goniopower for my gonis
3. My idiot yellow coris #1 has been acting rather ornery as of late - I think it may be turning into a boy? It’s making sand pits everywhere and burying my gonis.

I've been feeding goniopower to my gonis...and I don't think that they like it as much as reef roids. I can't say for sure but they just don't look as happy.
Also the goniopower particles are a little bigger than the rr powder...it may be that they aren't able to eat/absorb as much.

Fingers crossed that nothing melts during beta testing, lol

I use to feed my goni reef chili and it works great but got lazy

I thought your goni was pretty big. And old.
Did you notice a difference after your lazy butt stopped feeding it?
I fed my red one when it was smaller and I want to think it did help it grew faster comparing my current goni and their rate of growth. My red one was about the size of a dime at the base when I got it March 2019 and now its skeleton is about the size of a tennis ball.

I just read through the entire thread and loved the journey. Your tank looks awesome!
Wondering if your still having phosphate issues?
I'm told if you dont cure the rock it will leach phosphate for a long time.

Yes phosphates are usually high in this tank.
I used dry reef rock and a few pieces of cured live rock when I started. I do believe that the dry reef rock is leaching phosphates. I’ve been dripping SeaKlear to keep it under control plus GFO and a chaeto reactor. The phosphates bounce around from .1 - 1.0+ :(
To be honest, the lps & fish don’t seem to mind but sps browns out instantly. But it makes good logical sense to keep everything at sea level parameters so I try to keep it down.

I used all cured live rock on my frag tank and don’t have any phosphate issues at all.
