chemical help

Well if you have an algae problem, you'll probably want to use water from the septic tank- anti algal agents in that stuff.

A gallon of vodka should fix that right up!

Don't put it in your tank though. Just chug as much as you can and the tank will start looking pretty good! Kinda like beer goggles.

Good idea. By the way, I just added my 5th bio pellet reactor. You would think that would have helped some. maybe more GFO? Or more snails? What fish eats toxic orange color slimy bacterial. Maybe Achilles tang would work?

Clearly, wobegong sharks are your only option. Excellent toxic orange slimy stuff eaters.

Here's an idea I can have those guys from the show Tanked built me a tank in the shape of a septic tank.

I would concentrate on getting a 2 part, like this:

[IMG]http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-2-part-calcium-alkalinity-total-package-bulk.html">http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-2-part-calcium-alkalinity-total-package-bulk.html</a>

and mag like this:

[IMG]http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/2-part-magnesium-mix-aquarium-supplement.html">http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/2-part-magnesium-mix-aquarium-supplement.html</a>

all this can be bought locally, too!

just add ALK, Calcium, & mag using a calculator:

(get some test kits for all 3 from Elos or Salifert)

Lol. But they do acclimate the fish for 5-10 mins before adding. And use that water in the box.

Just wanted to say thank yo so much fr the helpful info and as for you sharkbait if I want to ask something I will wether you approve or not I don't have no time for you also people like ruin alot of things for a lot of people. On topic- I probably wouldn't dose the reef plus more often than once a week when you first start. It will feed corals, but can also feed algae.

Sharkbait;860190 wrote: I'm sorry but your in a different position than I am. You are a sponsor and just as you said it annoys you to have to answer the same question over and over. However, you are a sponsor and have to bite your tongue, more or less. I as memeber to do not. This "new" group of members have become very lazy and are really doing things wrong. Take the member who got a cat shark and put him in a 93g cube... Had he done research he would have known the shark would quickly out grow the tank. Same in this situation. The memeber is asking how to use chemicals when the directions are printed on the bottle. How does him starting this thread help any other members as I am sure any and everyone else would be able to just simply read the directions given by the manufacture.

Here is how I see it. As a member, you have the Choice to read it or skip it. You have the further Choice to comment or not. Should a beginner ask a question and should an experienced reefer decide to answer how does that harm you?

Also, if I purchase a product and read the directions I should know how to use it. But, if I have never purchased it and I see a discussion on it, I thereby learn what it is, what it does and how I could make use of it in the future should I need it. I suspect you did not learn the vast amounts of knowledge you have in the first month or two of having a tank.

Okay il head this advice but should I go ahead and start it or should I wait for a sign of something happening

It it were me, I would go ahead and start.

Keep in mind that amino acids break down into ammonia and organic acid. Essentially, just proteins. Do you have a decent skimmer?

Lol. You just keep thinking that their buddy. I have seen my fair share of members like you. They always come and go. So I'm not really worried about it.
