But that doesn't help anyone who has the same question.

Excellent point! As for feeling stupid, I don't let it bother me. I may be ignorant but not stupid. (If you don't know the difference use the search feature to look it up). Heheh

I am comfortable in my own skin, therefore if someone thinks I am stupid I figure they can just deal with it. :-)

Lol!!!

There is a chance I may not need it when I get done moving things over from the 93.

Right now, I am using it on the 210. But when I move the C-reactor over, I'll either use it on the wife's 65 or sell it.

well guys i appreciated the good advice and the nice comments. but i must say all of the hate and flaming and raging at me for simple noob mistake that would have been avoided if i was not afraid to ask questions on here because everyone i ask i get some idiot getting on here and telling how stupid i am..... anyway i have come to the point to where i don't really give a crap what anyone has to say about how many questions i ask... i payed my $30 to be a member of this club and i will ask as many questions i want. even if it is the stupidest question on the internet. so for people that like to flame and act like you are god.. leave me alone if you dont want to help dont waist my time and make me read more than i have to

thank you for all the helpful input it is greatly appreciated and will be heeded

Don't let it bother you. Some people just need an "Eyectomy". You know, that's where they remove the nerve connecting your eyes to your A-Hole to get rid of your crappy outlook on life. :-)

Ask as many questions as you'd like, but please, include more details like "I've got a 120g. My parameters are... How do I bring .... Up/down, etc"

I don't know you from Adam, so I can't assume you had already read the instructions.

I've seen plenty of posts where people skipped the instructions and just expected us to know how to help them dose their system.

I think the whole point of Sharkbait's post was the same as mine. If you had followed up with something like "I tried that, but my pH is still low" instead of feeling offended, we would have had more to work with.

Everyone here was in the same boat as you at one point, heck, I still don't have this dosing thing down pat, but don't feel offended if someone provides a similarly vague post to a vague question.

That would be like asking "how do I drive a car?" And someone telling you "press the gas pedal and steer".

It's a vague question with a similarly vague answer.

Believe me friend, we want your tank to thrive. Then you'll buy beautiful corals that you'll eventually frag and share with the rest of us.

Just please, have a thicker skin and reword your question when you realize you asked a vague question.

Y'all still flinging poo at each other here?

Geez, I go to work for a day and now the proverbial walls need washing...

WE were ALL new once upon a time. I could write a book of the mistakes I've made. 25 years in the hobby = probably more mistakes than many of you will ever make. Antique knowledge and technology back in the day.... and since then I've answered (and ASKED) more than my fair share of elementary questions. One must start somewhere.

If I had $1 for every time someone has called me, PM'd me or emailed me with a problem but didn't even know their parameters, I'd have retired wealthy, years ago. :D

The only stupid question is the one never asked.

If I reply to any given person and my and others' sound advice is repeatedly disregarded, I just quit answering that person's threads. That's the easiest way to save yourself some aggro. Skip it and move on. Starting a poo flinging match solves nothing, except maybe a little passive/aggressive satisfaction to the person instigating it. Click the little red X in the top right corner and move on.

Then, either someone with the patience to reply, or interest to ask for more information etc., can pick up the ball and run with it.

At least on a forum, you have that option.

Many of you wouldn't last a week in my shop :) No red X when the person is standing in front of you.

And I agree that the search function on this site can be difficult - I've had trouble finding my own threads when I try to go back and find them.

It's Sunday night... let's all chill a bit and enjoy, mmkay?

Hey Paul, it was a pleasure meeting you and your girlfriend yesterday.
Just to let you know I haven't been with Ark a year yet and this was my first forum to ever read or post on. First thing I did before even posting was Google "Forums in general, etiquette, rules etc." which helped me.
Anyway, you need to reread this thread because there has been no "flaming or raging"! Only one short answer that many agreed wasn't helpful or needed. That's all!
As many have tried to explain to you, your post was just to vague. You really need to take your time when posting a question, give as many "details" about your issue/problem as you can. This way the experienced, knowledgable people here that are so helpful don't have to waste their time digging the info out of you. This will make them much more likely to respond to you and give them more time to respond to others (like me) that need help. Hehe
Learn from this going forward when posting questions and review your posts before submitting to check your typing, it is difficult when using an iPhone to get it right. It's also difficult for some to figure out what you "meant" to say because of typo's and spellcheck.
Your getting great advice and will continue to get the help you need if we all work together.
Hang in there and regardless of others, always be the best "you" can be when posting!

Holy ****... This is still happening, huh?

I don't even know what to say...

Lets take a recap- had no one ever called out sharkbait(and just ignored his comment like most others did) we wouldn't even have this mess. I was prepared to help the kid and offer advice. I wake up te next morning, and everyone is at each other's throats- so I decided to play around with silver surfer. He seemed to be in a playful mood, which is always good to have on the ARC.

This is more than newbie asking questions(which I see nothing wrong with)- this has everything to do with ARC members loving to pick fights. Now, I don't disagree- sometimes a healthy debate or argument is fun, but this one is pretty lame.

Seriously! If you want a fun argument, pick a topic that will get Jeremy involved(Heath knows what I'm talking about) :). Much more fulfilling.

Hey Dylan, I don't know if that was directed at me but NONE of my posts were intended to pick fights, quite the contrary! Regardless, why are you posting more negative comments about the club and trying to keep the negativity alive? Your doing exactly what your complaining about!

Why doesn't everyone who don't have relevant "helpful advise" get off his thread! If he has more questions, I'm sure "useful" advice will be posted.
