Chiller not cooling

The copper tube that is bare looks like the high side line it goes to the condenser coil. That looks like 3/8 copper. I can't see the suction line in any of the pics it must be insulated. It will be the other line coming off the compressor. Ps the 3/8 copper will be hot when running. They used to make saddle valves but I have not seen any in a long time and they tended to leak.

The high side does get hot when running.

All I know is that I put a Mag5 in a half bucket of water and hooked up the chiller. The water temp went up 5 degrees as the chiller ran for 1/2 hour...

a saddle valve is definitely NOT the way to go.

You want a permenant and leak free solution. Have the fittings installed properly. There's a reason why engineers have ports on both the low and high side. Fwiw, do it right the first time.

Tell them it's a small "window unit" that runs on R-134a. Then, since it's not a specialty item and an item of generally low value, they'll be more apt to quote you a more reasonable price :D

(you'll need to remove the case for this to work)

Nobody wants to bother with it...It's a hot summer and I guess they're busy with normal calls.

I thought we were in a recession? I thought any local business would like some work.

:confused2: And they will be the first ones to ***** when business gets slow. Unbelievable.

Even called the place that installed my new $2400 a/c system last year and said I had a small unit that needed some refrigerant...their reply, "we don't deal with small systems"...

Think I might go outside and bust a few hoses on my home's a/c while it's under 3yr/$0 cost warranty...then when they come to fix it, I'll just have em do the chiller too...

lol I didnt have time to mess with it today, I was at the department of labor all day, I'll let you know tomarrow
