My chromis collection was down to 3 so I added 3 more maybe 2 months ago. They get along pretty well but today I'm noticing on has a slight discoloration (sometimes, but then a few min later it looks fine). It almost looks camo. The other chromis seem to be shunning him and then fighting a little more between each other. I know I've heard they can get this way, but I've never seen it before and didn't know if anyone had any thoughts. Attached pic, you can see the discoloration in the top left fish below. He keeps trying to get back with the group and even the little ones are chasing him away. I don't see any other negative symptoms on the outcast.

That's how mine looked before they disapeared. If you have somewhere else to put him I would. I think it is stress from being picked on. I have 8 from 15 and one is noticably larger then the rest. At the time i got them i had a few smaller ones and all the rest were fairly close in size. All the ones that "slept" in the open are gone. The rest sleep in a coral skeleton.

don't know if its true but some one told me to keep them in odd numbers I have 29 chromis for well over a year no problems

Well if this one doesn't make it then i'll have an odd number /-= I've lost a few last year that got a red band over on top of the head just behind the eye. When it appeared they died within a day. I hope this one makes it. I did a water change yesterday, but nothing out of the ordinary and no other changes to the tank. They get fed plenty. I just want to know why the sudden change. Thanks for the input.
