You guys are killing me. I've never had a clam but now I'm shopping. Christmas present to myself perhaps?
Clammania John Bui has beautiful clams out in California. He just sent me the replacement for the little guy I had that did not make it through shipping and I upgraded to a 4-5 inch pretty neon green one
If you're going local, try to pick the healthiest clam and not the prettiest one...Nemo Duluth has a bunch of smaller derasas for $45 and a few huge Maximas. The one in Lilburn had a couple of huge Maximas and some smaller Croceas.
Online - I've been looking at PEA and AlgaeBarn. But right now it seems no one has anything in stock except Calmmania and LiveAquaria.
Stick the word "ultra" in front of any clam species and they are damn 10x beautiful and 3x the price...
The sad part is that the selection is better than what we see at our LFS
