I have two colonies of these and they are right beside each other in the tank. One is doing well and the other is dying a slow death. Any ideas? Can I still save it? thanks

Sorry for the bad pics but I took two quick ones. The colony doing well is on top of the rock just right of center. The other one was on top of the rocks just to the left of center but I have moved it to the bottom of the tank in the bottom left corner. They were a foot apart with one doing well and the other not so well. Thanks

Hey i see my old Damsel glad he seems to be doing good!

Back on topic. Do you think one of the fish may be bothering it?

Also you got my CHoc starfish is he in this tank? He destroyed alot of my corals maybe he is eating this

I keep an eye on the fish and I never see them around either colony. The starfish is down in the sump keeping it clean so he is not the problem.

Hmm im not much help just thinking of things that happened to me. No bugs or anything of the sort?

Nothing that I have seen.

i had the exact same polyps that were doing great then all of a sudden started dying...after they had died i fund that some of my cheatoh had broken off and lodged itself in my return pump basically cutting the flow of the tank in half...i assume this was the sudden change in the tank that killed them...someone else suggested i needed to supplement iodide? i think it was...but i didnt have a test foir this and havent dosed anything..not sure if this helps

I moved them to the bottom of the tank to see what happens. The ones on top are doing fine. dont know what the problem is.

Tank looks really new. Things die in new tanks for inexplicable, unforeseen reasons (at least for me). Besides, cloves are cool looking until they take over your tank. One guy mentioned a choc starfish being in there? I'd definently point the finger in his direction.

Could be worse though, it could be a prized hornet/chalice/acro!

Starfish is in the sump.
How long has the tank been setup?

What's your alkalinity at? I didn't see that listed.

Lots of soft corals get unhappy if alk is too low.

Tank has been up and running for about 4 months, so it is relatively new. Parameters have been steady for some time.

pH is constant at 8.2. I guess somethings like your tank and somethings dont. I have nothing "prized" in the tank yet so that is not a big concern. Just run of the mill starter stuff. Just curious why one colony does well and the other is dying off.
