Collected these walking up and down the beach over a 2-3 mile stretch. Most were black and dried out but everything i collected is good. I bet I could get a lot more if I could find a place where there are actual mangrove trees. These just washed up
Just a quick update on my vacation: Everybody got (mild) food poisoning and it's still raining. On the bright side, there are at least two confirmed saltwater LFS within 3 miles of me and somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 possible stores in Melbourne. Reefer's heaven? Tomorrow I find out
Just down A1A from Melbourne is a big state park it may be called Sebastian inlet (idk iv traveled a lot ) with good access to some flats where I walked out a wais and cought some snook on my fly rod , that seems like a good place to look , there was a lot of growth when I last saw it .
Good luck !!
Well guys, the pods that I collected are not doing so well. They have for the most part become wrinkled, soft, and some of them are turning black. Since mangrove propagules can survive out of water up to a year I am assuming that the problem must be that I brought them into a hotel room with the AC blasting.it must have shocked them. I've set up a small tank for them with a heater and waiting to see what happens. I'll keep everyone posted.. I was planning on giving most of these away
