Okay, I've wanted both of these for a long time. I finally picked up a gorgeous sun coral specimen at a great price from Steve and Steve at Warehouse in Alpharetta.

I should've asked while I was there, but are Copperbands safe with these corals? I know that CBBs have a tendency to nip at polyps so I figured I'd ask. I'd much rather have the coral than an iffy, if not gorgeous fish

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I have mine with a dendro and it seems the coral is mostly closed since i added the copperband but it may not be related

I had a CB and it only nipped at Acan Lord polyps. I did not have a sun coral though...

Dunno about sun corals....but mine has left most everything alone. (I have zoas, xenia, yellow polyps, candycane, leathers, mushrooms, gsp)

Hmmm...

Rit has one that isnt eating prepared foods yet... just picks on the rocks. He has been holding it for me to see if it would eat. I've got enough vermetid snails in the tank for him to feast on for a while... that and those tiny featherdusters. However... if he goes after the sun coral he's out!

Thanks for the input guys. So many beautiful/questionable fish in this hobby...

got mine from Rit a while ago and trained him to eat in less than a week. He lived on feather dusters for a few days but now he will eat PE Mysis and Rods, not much anything else but I'm ok with that.

Acans are in the frag tank because of him unfortunately but he won't touch clams.

Hmmm... that is very encouraging!

I like acans... but I dont need em in my tank. I worry more about the sun coral and clams.

Just curious of how long have you had your CopperBand? I have yet to see any live longer than 6 months (even on prepared food).

Had him since November or so but I'm sure people here had them longer than that.

I had one for almost a year...flatworm toxin wiped out half my livestock including the CB. But he ate like a pig and was healthy and thriving.

Got a replacement from Rit a month or so back and it too eats prepared food. He eats PE Mysis like crazy!
I also have a mixed reef and just added a clam. He does not bother any of these.

Never had any luck with sun corals. Could never get them to open.

Well ... I'll probably go pick up the little guy he has then. Seems like its pretty much hit or miss like half the fish in this hobby.

As for the sun corals, the guys at the Alpharetta Warehouse location had it opening fully in light (albeit dim) so under my 250k radiums, its closing up a bit, but put some cyclopeeze in the water and they all come right out. I figure it will take a few weeks to get the heads to stay open in the daytime, but I'm working on it.

Let me know how the copperband does with the sun coral because I have a sun coral and would like to get a copperband in a few months. I definitely would not want to lose my sun corals, they are beautiful!
