Crazy tank, can't resist sharing.

It must be a real PIA to get the flow right... But it really does capture everything cool about a reef, because the drop off captures everything a reef should be... now if only you could have an apex predator waiting at the edge of the dropoff you'd have it all...

What's the point in a "drop off" tank...? I don't get it...what's the difference in having a tall tank with rock stacked up and a reef wall and custom building a tank that mimics a wall...just a smaller water volume?

Their have been a couple of interviews of the people that they have built the tanks for. You just have to look around.

A drop off tank just allows you different aquascapes that a standard tank doesn't

Ummm, not trying to be a Ralphole, hehe, but yes you can. I think you are saving on a bunch of rock but it's pretty normal for us...stack rock way to high and viola...reef wall.

i get at what you are saying and agree that you could probably pull off a similar look but it wont be the same type of aquascape in my opinion..

Its the shallow vs Deep in the same tank...

a regular tank will not have the same effect.

I love the look, but wider and more shallow would give it a better effect with a rimless setup. Jmo of course.

The way I understand it is instead of cycling the tank they just dose the tank at startup with the necessary bacteria (they use their on product line but its essentially Stability) then the fish go in to support the bacteria and boom the cycle continues. I wish the show spent more time on the equipment and installations themselves, however I understand that isn't what the average viewer wants to see.

Honestly I find it hard to believe they only lost 40%.

I mean I trust in SeaChem and use their products vigorously but there's not a chance in hell I'll start from scratch of setting up a tank, mix the salt and then slam far to much fish in a brand new aquarium with nothing but Stability.

Before anyone claims they have some proprietary solution, don't. They claimed that or atleast tried to insinuate it, either way they still haven't release they're miracle compound. Odds are they're using something already made like salinity or they're solution is a dud and no one wants it.

As long as it's on topic and not just a plug for something else, yes.

This is one I just recently found. I'll have to find the other ones to. One of the comments sound beliveballe.

Here is another thing. An interview. These just keep getting more convincing. And supposedly ATM is coming out with bacteria that you jus dump in your tank and it's ready for fish.....

Jacob,
There is entirely too much obscene language in this link and the posted comments for someone 12 years old to be reading. Please try to stay away from websites like these.

...oh trust me I know what I'm reading... And thanks for the input. And I'm actually 14. I need to get that changed. I don't know how that got to be 12.

Hard to trust an article that starts off with "from what we gleaned from some aquatic forums we visited....</em>"

They obviously they have no idea what they're talking about.

Lol. I don't trust it just thought it would be kind of Interesting.

The interview with Brett is good, great to share that side of the story. Those guys (ATM) know what they're doing, its just too bad Animal Planet has all the confidentiality clauses.

I think it's safe to say that "bacteria" is never coming out. Unless they are waiting for their relevance to fade outside their customer vase before the show.
