So my sps/lps tank was too low on nutrients and I started feeding more and dosing some red sea energy/amino. Things started coloring up immensely but I'm starting to get hair algae patches.

My Cuc has always been on the light side I think and wanted to know what folks might suggest.
I don't want to use the mexican turbos unless totally necessary. I'm open to everything else I think.

110 gallon
fish: 3 clowns, 3 gobies, melanarus wrasse, 2 anthias, pistol shrimp, small yellow coris, small 6 line

CUC now: 3 trochus snails, 2 nassarius snails, ~15 small/medium hermits, 2 emerald crabs, 2 nerite snails

I have had the trochus breed in my tank but not many of the babies survive. I see nerite egg sacs everywhere but never seen a baby one of those survive.

what size cuc do you guys keep?

You have a tiny clean up crew.

Beef it up. Turbos are the best. Or a tang. Tangs love hair algae

Astrea's are one of my staple snails. Ceriths and bumble bees for the hard to reach places.

Does this mean your QT is over or is this for a different tank?

Astrea Turbos and Dwarf Ceriths are my personal recommendations. Let the Turbos do the bulk of the work and the Ceriths get in all the nooks and crannies. Plus, Turbos just look cool once the get covered with coralline.

If you are having an issue with hair algae, it maybe prudent to take the affected rock out and scrub it.

QT is almost at week 7. This is for the MT. AEFW should be just about toast in both tanks now so I'm thinking of putting everything back into the MT in about 1 or 2 weeks. I'm worried the acro's won't survive much longer in the QT, it's just too unstable with ~35 medium sized frags and not dosing. I've definitely got a lot of STN from the weekly dipping and alkalinity bouncing. (qt's only 15 gallon)

What's the water change schedule like? You think doing small changes every other day would help stabalize things? Sorry....kind of derailed your thread in record time.

hehe, was doing 2 or 3 changes a week around 20 to 30% each time. last week I've been doing about 2 gallons a day ~ 15%+ but it's not really enough. Alkalinity stays down in the low 7.1 range. 1 week it dropped to 6 which really did the most damage when I only did one 30% water change. I might try and start hand dosing but i'll have to be super careful.

150 blue legs, 75 astrea, 6 turbo's, 20 nasarius, 20 cerinth, 5 emerals, and a few brittle stars. Just my $.02

I don't think he would be able to look in the tank with a crew that size.

I appreciate all the input, I know there are lots of folks with tanks in the 90-120 size and was curious what they run for CuC.
